I<U+2019>m disgusted that majority Commissioners have once again chosen to defy an Ohio Supreme Court order and ignore the millions of voters who overwhelmingly passed constitutional reforms to end gerrymandering.
The congressional map adopted by the majority commissioners today continues to gerrymander Ohio<U+2019>s communities, completely ignoring Ohioans<U+2019> demands for fairness. This is unacceptable.
Ohio has been under one-party rule for most of the past two decades. This has allowed certain politicians to feel untouchable and caused a culture of corruption to spread among our government institutions. This is a culture that we must eradicate.
Unfortunately, it appears that the federal court has undermined the constitutional reforms Ohioans overwhelmingly passed in 2015 to end gerrymandering. I hope the Commission will get back to work <U+2013> and this time, get it right.
