The majority commissioners purposely wasted another opportunity to adopt constitutional, proportional maps. This ridiculous diversion is insulting to voters and comes at a considerable expense to Ohio taxpayers.
It was clear that these maps would be invalidated from the moment the majority hijacked our historically transparent process. The Supreme Court has given us another chance and plenty of opportunities to fulfill our duty to end gerrymandering, as voters have demanded.
We could have avoided the troubles we are now facing with the primary election if we had simply adopted fair, constitutional maps to begin with.

Saying we didn<U+2019>t have the time to comply is a highly irresponsible affront to the Ohio Supreme Court and to the people of the state of Ohio. Our work to end gerrymandering is not over, and I will not give up until Ohio has fair, constitutional maps.
