Indiana is 1 of only 7 states not allowing vote-by-mail for the general election. If you think everyone should be able to vote safely by mail this November, call Governor Holcomb at 317-232-4567 or Secretary of State Connie Lawson a 317-232-6532, and demand your right vote. https://t.co/1dQgmHZTgr

Indiana has not seen a wage increase since 2009, and in 2011, a statute barring local govts from raising pay above the $7.25 federal min was also approved. This both tramples on local govt rights & ensures that cities seeking to set better wages for Hoosiers are legally blocked.

States across our nation will be raising their minimum wage this year, 30 of them now exceed that of the federal minimum. Indiana is not yet one of those states, with our minimum wage frozen at $7.25. This is not a livable wage in America, this is not a livable wage in Indiana.

The education committee is one of the most important committees in our statehouse because we make decisions that affect our schools and students, which represents the future of our state. Sadly, that was not what our time today was spent on. https://t.co/FyEAOlOiLk

My amendment was common-sense and simple, and I’m extremely disappointed that it did not pass. The fact that my colleagues rejected the opportunity to require Black history to be taught in our schools, during Black History Month, speaks volumes. (1/2) https://t.co/qgkQhMZJdB

"If a Black teen had crossed state lines with a weapon he was not allowed to have—to "protect property" that wasn't his—shot at and hit people, and then approached police while armed, there would not have been a trial. That teen would have been shot by police in the street." 1/

Today, I filed two of my bills for the 2021 legislative session. The first bill would raise the minimum wage to $10 starting Jan 2022 and would raise the minimum wage to $15 by 2027. My other proposal would cap the price of insulin that an individual pays out of pocket at $50. https://t.co/hGajKEj8PJ

I would like to extend my gratitude & appreciation to @suptdrmccormick. Her commitment and service to Indiana has been inspiring, and in our shared fight for our children, she truly became a friend. Thank you for the work that you do; thank you for always putting our kids first. https://t.co/n4dP0zksXt

That's why I'm introducing my minimum wage bill to eliminate this restriction. It would also immediately raise the minimum wage to $10, a rate that would be phased to $15 over the next five years. https://t.co/E79d9dy6Wl

Instead the majority of the committee was spent on limiting what our children can be taught as it relates to American history. We are instead focused on bills that are beneficial to our Hoosier students, such as @senatorJDFord's bill addressing mental health and suicide in teens.
