Our office released a report showing that from 2006-2016, administrative spending went up while the number of teachers and students went down. If spending outside the classroom had been kept the same then MS could have redeployed $358 million annually into the classroom.

Anyone who missed State Auditor Shad White's press conference last week on the release of Project Momentum can now watch it on YouTube! Project Momentum identified over $330M in reoccurring waste across 13 state agencies.
A few years ago our office identified over 200 people who had died but remained on the Medicaid rolls. Working hand-in-hand with the MS Division of Medicaid, we were able to identify these people, get them off the rolls, and recover over $600,000 in misspent money.

MS spends an absurd amount of money on property insurance. Our Project Momentum government waste audit showed that MS spends more money on property insurance premiums than FLORIDA. Florida spends over $12M compared to MS spending $14M annually.
Our office released a report showing that from 2006-2016, administrative spending in public schools went up despite the number of teachers & students going down. Mississippi spends a larger percentage of our education dollars on administration than every other state in the South.
Our office released a report showing that taxpayers spend up to $350,000 every year paying for cell phones for government employees that are never turned on. We will continue to identify and uncover examples of waste in state government.
