Congrats to Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana our next Republican Speaker. Let’s now have a unified vote tomorrow on the House floor.

Matt Gaetz and 7 other Republicans just voted with 208 Democrats to remove a Republican Speaker. They should be held accountable by Republican voters in their districts. They violated the “rule” they have been preaching. “Don’t rely on Democrat votes”. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Reminder again today that Matt Gaetz relied on 208 Dem votes to remove Speaker McCarthy. 210 House Republicans voted for McCarthy. Only 7 Republicans voted with Gaetz. Keep this fact front and center when Matt says this was a “principled” vote because of policy. 208 Dems!!

This past week I presided over the U.S. House of Representatives for the final time. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of Indiana’s 8th district.

Jim Jordan is now the House GOP nominee for Speaker of the House. When a floor vote occurs I will be voting for him. All House Republicans need to come together as a team and vote for Jim on the House floor. We need a GOP Speaker of the House ASAP.

@JakeSherman That is false. They offered multiple paths forward. A few Members just want a shutdown.

Donald Trump isn’t the issue. The future of our Democracy is the issue. Elected and appointed Dems need to stop what they are doing. Access to the ballot isn’t their decision. The American people vote for our elected leaders. It is their choice. The Supreme Court needs to act.

President Biden’s angry response to the Special Counsel report in his speech today is typical of a person who has some level of impairment when their mental acuity is challenged. I have been through this with my mother. A difficult situation for the President and his family.
