Prior to the COVID shutdowns, 1.4 million Californians worked in restaurants. Since March, between 900,000 and 1 million of these workers have either been laid off or furloughed. Its time for change. Protect the vulnerable and allow the rest of us to get on with our lives.
Recent data reveals that workers in Oakland, LA & Long Beach need to earn close to $250K to <U+201C>feel like<U+201D> they<U+2019>re taking home a $100K salary. Workers in SF need to earn $300K. It's no wonder so many are fleeing. We need to cut taxes & reduce housing costs ASAP. #FixCalifornia
Its time EDD pursues a more effectively strategy to get unemployment funds out in a timely and secure manner. That is why I am co-authoring AB 74 with @LorenaSGonzalez to require that EDD provides a direct deposit option.
