@bitchyhistory Yes, we need a nuanced view of how many factors contribute to violent behavior, but ruling out mental illness as one possibility also downplays how harmful untreated mental illnesses *can* be for some people, and how varied those conditions are, from depression to legit paranoia.
@bitchyhistory I saw the second post but it wasn't relevant. Generalizing that because YOU haven't become a terrorist because of your specific mental illnesses is a logical fallacy. You are an expert on your own experience of mental illness but not how it manifests in others.
@bitchyhistory Yes, potentially. It is also dangerous to deny that mental illness can manifest in profoundly bad ways that absolutely requires attention and is far more than just having a big sad. There is clearly a middle ground between the two. Also: fuck 140 characters, God damn!
@bitchyhistory Sorry mate, that's a straw man. Depression and anxiety are not the only mental illnesses. I've seen untreated paranoid schizophrenia produce a man who was a terrorist in every way but for having pulled the trigger on a gun.
