Make college affordable for all! SEIU Local 99 member Maria Morales was among guests joining @POTUS and @AlexPadilla4CA today for announcement of $1.2 billion in student loan forgiveness.
Dismantling the Department of Education will lead to overcrowded classrooms, financial aid being cut, and special education services being eliminated. A travesty for the students of America.
CONGRATULATIONS Roman on your high school graduation! Mom and I love you so much and are so proud of your persistence and resilience in reaching this important milestone. You’ll always remember the friends you’ve made and the memories you’ve created. On to the next chapter… 👏🏽
Higher education is a gateway to greater opportunities. That's why I am co-sponsoring the College For All Act with @BernieSanders, to lift the burden of student debt and open doors for millions. No one should have to choose between a degree and a lifetime of debt.
Despite every effort from Republicans to stop it from happening, under the leadership of @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris, nearly $160 billion of student loan debt has been forgiven for over 4 million Americans.
This move to gut the Education Department is shameful. Handing critical student aid, civil rights protections, and disability enforcement over to agencies ill-equipped to handle them isn’t reform—it’s sabotage. And our kids will pay the price.
As we work to make higher education accessible and affordable, alleviating the weight of student loans make an enormous difference in people's lives. Thank you, @POTUS.
