1/ Reducing smoking, especially among young people, has always been a priority for me. Stronger regulation of the sale and distribution of cigarettes and other tobacco products by MD’s counties and Baltimore City would be permitted by my legislation, House Bill 732. #mdga21

2/ A lobbyist for the tobacco industry wrote the members of the committee that my legislation would “adversely affect the raising and collection of tobacco product excise and sales tax.” “That’s our goal,” I testified in response.
1/ Everyone knows you need an appointment to get a Covid vaccine. One way to streamline the process: a single state sign on. That's according to the testimony before my committee today of Dr. Gabe Kelen, Dir. of the Hopkins Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response.
2/ that would not be permitted under the Medicaid program, the funding source for these clinics. I decided to make this point when I testified, instead of responding if it had been raised by a legislator or lobbyist. Doing it this way, I got to frame the issue.
1/ Vaccinating Marylanders safely, fairly, and efficiently is our number one obligation. This will be discussed at the hearing on my legislation, House Bill 1263, Maryland Department of Health – COVID–19 Vaccination Plan.
2/ Multiple vaccine lists won't solve the problem. I want to streamline the process by having one single website for vaccine appointments. Anyone in Maryland can sign up.
