Robin Grammer,

@RobinGrammer

Republican MD House

@justin_fenton I have been trying to get these laws reformed but the legislature doesn't seem to care and the lobbyists for the real estate interests have fought me at every turn. We are going to continue to have these problems until we get reform. There is a ton of campaign $ against reform.

@justin_fenton When researching this problem in my district, I found this piece written years ago. They pointed out that for decades, people outside the city owned these properties, which were going to hell even back then. https://t.co/WydQp0j0vg

@justin_fenton This is nothing new. Don't let the city lie, they know about it. It isn't the easiest thing to understand. However, anyone paying attention and talking to people in these communities can see clearly that they are being consumed by property investors.

@justin_fenton Right around the time that the paper I posted was written, the legislature adopted a series of laws for the jurisdictions in the beltway corridor which gave community associations standing to file for injunctive relief regarding these properties.

I hear you, @lovinlife1961. Community associations are folding as there is no value in maintaining them. I am trying to revise statute to empower local CAs and get parity with Harford, the city, Anne Arundel and Prince Georges. Unfortunately, the House just gutted my bill. https://t.co/IWTg83I177

@justin_fenton You should check the percentage of homes in each legislative district in the Baltimore region. Last I checked, every district in Baltimore City was more than 50% rentals. I doubt you can find a row home community with less than 50% rentals. That campaign $ prevents reform.

@justin_fenton If you want a real shock, you should report on the numbers of houses in each district which are owned by the occupants and which are rentals. This is why the housing stock is going to hell and the blight is completely unmitigated.

Four decades later, Baltimore still suffers from blight and nuisance properties. Baltimore County has the same issues. Will Baltimore County suffer from them for the next 43 years? We can fix this with nuisance law reform. Please help us pass HB 265! @SpeakerAJones @KumarBarve https://t.co/JVTj86SV2n

There are ways to deal with vacant properties - but only if we have the tools. @KumarBarve @Willcsmithjr @MDDailyRecord Please help us achieve stronger nuisance laws! Baltimore County has the same problem. We don't need to wait for a crises to deal with these issues. HB263 HB265 https://t.co/QWIPXzwqP9
