In a culmination of 33 years in the classroom and 6 years on the Education Committee, I am honored to be the next Chair of the MN Senate Education Policy Committee. I can't wait to make real and important changes for MN's children and all those involved in our education systems.
Today, for the first time in my service as Senator, I was honored to call the MN Education Policy Committee to order as Chairman. It<U+2019>s officially time to do the important work for our students, teachers, and education systems. We will begin to hear legislation next week.

This record budget surplus gives us the opportunity to invest in Minnesotans smartly and surely. It is the time to think big and accomplish the work the people of Minnesota asked of us and elected us to do, especially funding education. Let's get to work!
We are very fortunate to have two teachers in the governors mansion. They know first hand the impact on our students, teachers, and the critical staff that make our schools succeed. Now go and grab that work of great literature that you have been meaning to read.
My wife Patti headed out the door this morning for the first day of school, teaching 8th grade geography. Our educators and students are hoping for a wonderful, joyful, and productive school year filled with memories that will last a lifetime. I wish you all the best year ever! https://t.co/TYCMlOW46A
Every student deserves a world-class education, no matter their zip code. To have a proper education, our students must not go hungry or without access to the products they need. Ed Policy will hear SF 13, 50, and 123 tomorrow.
I am pleased to share my committee assignments for the 2023 session. Besides Chairman of Education Policy, I will also serve on Education Finance, Elections, and State and Local Government and Veterans. Let<U+2019>s get to work!
Some clips from the incredible student testifiers last week in Education Policy. These young women shared their testimonies on the importance of the Menstrual Equity bill. SF 50 was heard this morning in Education Finance and re-referred to the Finance Committee. https://t.co/m25oSFUu8q
