There will always be times when legislators must make tough votes. There will be times when legislators must weigh the good and the bad of a potential action, take stock of the sentiment of constituents and search their soul and agonize on whether to vote "yes" or "no." (1/10)

Sad day in our nation. The greatest country in the world. A nation with laws. A nation that has a procedure and a history for a peaceful transition of power. No man, no political party is greater than this country.
The @MSHouseOfRep just passed HCR 79 by vote of 85-34 to suspend the rules to allow for the introduction of bill to decommission current state flag. Amazing day in the history of our State.

Pres George H. W. Bush penned a note to Bill Clinton, who defeated him, saying you are now OUR President. Your success is now our countrys success. Hoping we recognize what Pres Bush knew. A new president deserves our support for the collective future of this nation we love.
I make this vote for my city and university, whose leaders and citizens have led on this important issue. But most importantly, I make this vote for our state's future and for all future generations who will live under its flag. (10/10)

For me, the vote on changing the flag has not been one of those tough votes. Since announcing my intention to run for state representative in 2017, I have frequently stated my public support for changing Mississippi's flag. (2/10)
