The Texas Legislature banned dangerous DEI in public universities. Now we’re going to finish the job and ban DEI in the other public institutions. Our citizens are the priority, not crazy ideology. #txlege
Great list of conservative legislation. I’m pleased to have filed 3 of these priorities: ✅ Eliminating DEI in all governmental entities (HB 167) ✅ Prohibiting employers from hiring illegals/E-Verify (HB 1308) ✅ Closing low-producing degrees based on debt-to-income (HB 281)
Some of my fellow Republican colleagues and I have been accused of opposing legislation that would ban child gender modification. Any suggestion of this sort is disingenuous at best. I’m proud to have voted for SB 14, which bans child gender modification in Texas. #txlege
To correct the timeline here, to my knowledge, I was the first elected official in the country to file legislation to eliminate toxic DEI. On December 13, 2022, I filed HB 1006 to accomplish this goal—well over two months before the Florida bill was introduced. #txlege
In light of SCOTUS’ decision today, I filed HB 54 to prohibit affirmative action in higher education admissions and governmental employment. This bill is essentially a refile from a bill I filed during the regular session, HB 3682 #txlege
