Today I sent a letter to the Presidents and Regents of @UW & @WSUPullman, urging them to stick together for the good of our student-athletes and fans. Next #waleg session, I will introduce legislation requiring both schools remain in the same conference, as they have since 1917. https://t.co/0kkypWSklG

@livfinne Don't worry, they're trying to mislead their members. The House did not vote No on that amendment. In fact, both House & Senate budgets provide $7 million in *new* charter school funding, and the WEA couldn't get anyone in either chamber to offer an amendment to cut that funding.

Aside from the WEA's turpitude, their tweet is just outright false. The House didn't vote no on that amendment, both House & Senate budgets add $7M in new charter school funding, and the WEA couldn't find a member in either chamber to offer a floor amendment cutting that funding.

@WEAAdvocacy False, the House did not vote No on that amendment. In fact, both House and Senate budgets provide $7 million in *new* charter school funding, and you couldn't find a member in either chamber of #waleg to even offer an amendment to reduce or eliminate that additional funding.

@jtwilcox111 In 2019, a number of small school districts made the case that they were struggling to transition to the new McCleary formulas. My bill to spend one-time BSA funds on these one-time transition costs passed the House 93-3 and was signed by the Governor. https://t.co/ncvg3nwbZ1

@WEAAdvocacy Given the the $1 million in member dues you pay for government affairs, I<U+2019>m glad this only took you 18 hours to sort out. Don<U+2019>t forget to tell your members that Amendment 1192, to strip charter school funding out of the budget, also got withdrawn! https://t.co/82JQtCOAUt

@bigclasstraitor Savage Inequalities sits on the top shelf of a bookcase in my Olympia office. Why do you think I’ve repeated “every child deserves access to a world-class education regardless of their zip code” on the House floor and on 31st LD doorsteps more than any other phrase by FAR? https://t.co/xLQcx4Scp6

@tripp_p @TheStalwart It<U+2019>s like studying for a class where your only grade is the final. If you<U+2019>re responsible & do the work along the way, it<U+2019>s never overwhelming & you<U+2019>ll pass. If you give into temptation to skip because there<U+2019>s plenty of time to make it up, things can snowball out of control fast.

@bigclasstraitor Fair point, and welcome (though no matter how long you’ve been here, I hope you have better things to do than listen to my boring speeches). WA’s school funding model is quite unique. Luckily it gives us an ability to solve some of the examples of inequalities Kozol illustrated.
