Florida<U+2019>s CFO is responsible for overseeing Florida<U+2019>s Office of Insurance Regulation, not the Florida Bar. The people of our state deserve leadership and accountability <U+2013> not finger-pointing and excuses.
Today, I voted against a new deal that will significantly expand gambling in FL. Floridians overwhelmingly passed a constitutional amendment that requires voters to approve any expansion to gaming. We must follow our Constitution & let the people-not Tallahassee-make this choice.
Challenges in Florida<U+2019>s property insurance market are not new. But in the past the Florida Cabinet would meet regularly (every two weeks) and there was robust, public discussion and leadership on these issues. That no longer happens.

This Special Session was called to address Florida<U+2019>s broken property insurance market, an incredibly complex issue. We have yet to see the legislation in the works. That<U+2019>s not how we should be fixing major public policy challenges impacting millions of Floridians.
