Closing neighborhood schools would likely contribute to population decline. Slashing schools = self-fulfilling prophecy of worse enrollment declines. ASD should only consolidate schools if it is highly like to help students, not as short-term measure to save money. #akleg
$5 million in school savings =7% of deficit. ASD should pause school closures, work hard to persuade #akleg to raise BSA and index it to inflation. We did succeed last year in making long-overdue capital investments--w/ push from community we can definitely raise BSA next year.

@loisepstein This is not accurate, and misrepresents the petition signed by some neighbors. The School Board did not approve a specific design or building location--it approved funding for a replacement school, and addtl community members have been added to school's building design committee
@loisepstein South Addition Community Council voted overwhelmingly to support school being on bond AND to add neighbors to BDC. School Board action supported SACC position.
