Michigan, the Democrats are at it again. Yesterday they blasted through many bills given to us at the very last minute that most Michiganders would shut down in a minute if they knew what was happening. Here are two examples: HB 5557 mandates: A master plan shall include those of the following subjects that reasonably can be considered as pertinent to the future development of the planning jurisdiction: (e) An assessment of the community's existing and forecasted housing demands, with strategies and policies for addressing those demands.” This mandated provision is in anticipation of a whole boatload of Democrat bills that are in the hopper to override your local zoning; to require multifamily, tenant-housing and tax-subsidized housing in Michigan communities who do not want it! SB 893: A Port Authority bill that has many of the same lack of controls so successfully utilized by New York’s, Robert Moses who exploited the New York and New Jersey Port Authorities. He accumulate unchecked power, creating long-lasting systemic corruption in urban governance. Moses’ manipulation of public authorities, including the Port Authority, introduced centralized control over infrastructure funding, sidelining all democratic oversight. His career showcased how unelected officials could use public authorities as political tools. The lack of accountability, politicized urban planning, and erosion of public trust that Moses helped institutionalize left a lasting legacy of systemic corruption.
