I hope people feel more empathy for those living in food deserts as all grocery stores are struggling to stock fresh produce across Maryland. Not having access to fresh produce is an issue my district and many others of color continue to struggle with.

@ChristinaTkacik @BaltimoreBanner I would be happy to read about the placement policies of some of societies <U+201C>favorite<U+201D> grocery store chains and how these policies perpetuate food deserts. Affordable stores like Trader Joe<U+2019>s have no presence in Black and Brown communities nationwide, no matter income levels.

Access to fresh food continues to be a top priority of my office as we are introducing our Food Empowerment Zone legislation again this year to tackle food deserts.
