Today the State Assembly passed a budget that avoided major cuts to our schools and protected K-12 education. We need to ensure our education system is fully funded so students can succeed and contribute to Californias economic recovery.

Class dismissed! I spent another successful day in the classroom as a substitute teacher today. California needs more people to fill this important role. Enjoy the weekend, Mr. O<U+2019>Donnell<U+0001F600> #teacherlife #substituteteacherlife @WeAreCTA @UTLAnow @CFTunion https://t.co/GkASosV028
Just completed my final hearing as the Chair of the Assembly Education Cmte. For 8 years, I have stood up for what I believe in as a classroom teacher and for not micromanaging schools from Sacramento! Let teachers teach! Huge thank you to the BEST committee staff in the #CALeg https://t.co/7Pojh6HtsX
It would be better for students to take summer classes than to start the next school year earlier. Summer school will allow students to make up lost credits and help boost their G.P.A. to get into college.

The state took emergency action today by passing SB 117. This bill will fund our schools during closures and provide resources to ensure school sites are cleaned and sanitized before students return.
We must add more money to the base allocation so #schools can lower class size and address the individual needs of CA districts. This is not a year to impose more programs on schools, but we must focus on the basics such as funding what we do already more adequately. #caleg #lcff https://t.co/AdKGXUgcGo
It was teacher vaccination day at the Kaiser vaccination site at @CSULB. Glad to see that Long Beach has vaccinated almost all teachers and that the push for teacher vaccinations across our state is working and supported by the @CAGovernor. https://t.co/OEOcT76NLn
Teachers are the backbone of our education system. Honored to stand with them to advocate on behalf of our students. Thank you @WeAreCTA for the 2019 Friend of Education Award. #CTAStateCouncil https://t.co/twfLAtDZdL
