🧵 I was assigned to this workgroup, and it feels surreal. With all the challenges facing Minnesotans, from housing to covid to climate (and on and on), this issue isn't worth our time. We are adult people, capable of dressing ourselves for work. https://t.co/ZqWzSoqwyj

I am honored to be the next Chair of the MN Senate Housing Finance and Policy Committee. I can't wait to get started working on behalf of the people of Minnesota to make sure every has access to a safe and affordable home.

As weather grows more unpredictable, I proposed an amendment to extend the Cold Weather Rule to protect families from having their heat turned off from Oct 1-April 30, just a 15 day window extension on either side. Again, the senate GOP voted it down.

What we heard today in the Senate Housing Committee is that Minnesotans' need for rental assistance is ongoing. With the federal money gone, the legislature needs to step up to build a sustainable program to keep families in stable homes.

I hope this means we'll see a lot of support from Republicans for the work we're going to do to ensure every Minnesotan has access to a safe, stable, and affordable place to live. https://t.co/gbJxtYXqBW

We could make real progress solving the affordable housing crisis, but with the voices of our communities cut out of negotiations, extreme GOP positions are forcing trades for the status quo. We deserve better. https://t.co/yS7RO1ZIWu
