The flags I was given are now in Fernandina Beach on the grave of PFC Lewis Mason Bean. He arrived a few days after D-Day. He seldom talked about his service, but I am so grateful for it and so grateful for the opportunity to honor the sacrifices of so many. https://t.co/FmE4n8FBP5
We were each given the name of a soldier from our state and placed American and French flags on the grave. They remain there for a time and are removed to keep it uniform. As we left, they gave us a set of flags that had been used to honor a hero. https://t.co/89rMtO3dkq

We climbed the hill to the American Cemetery. The superintendent met us and allowed us to tour the museum that was closed for Covid. It was a beautiful tribute to the bravery and humanity of the American soldiers and their allies. https://t.co/VtDKLLGLTf
We followed the path to a courtyard that bears the names of those who were lost and whose remains were never found. Many are still at the bottom of the English Channel. We presented a tribute of flowers and our group addressed the visitors at the monument. https://t.co/FwJzRzpFHU
