@janice4iowa @PaulDeaton_IA That was Senate File 2338 which took away liability from businesses. In the absence of other legislation aimed at stopping the spread, that will make it worse because people won't take precautions out of fear of liability.

@PhilKJames I filed Senate File 147 to provide help to restaurants and food insecure Iowans. It would provide every SNAP recipient in Iowa with a $20 gift card for restaurant take-out food. You can see the bill and contact information for legislators at https://t.co/F6ZGcr7Aep.
@JudyAtk90196899 That would be pretty clear, but what about when the damage is not quite so obvious and the insurance company says it thinks it was caused by something else. That happened a lot in Cedar Rapids in the derecho of 2020.
@the_real_deepee HF2299 started off as a House Commerce Committee Study Bill 588 by State Rep. Shannon Lundgren (R-Peosta). I hope you were able to hear some of the subcommittee meeting. The consumer protection advocate did say it would make things more difficult for homeowners.
@BarbFlagel Sorry to hear about your situation. Cedar Rapids has lots of derecho damage that hasn't been fixed yet (including at my house). Some options: See if your insurance company has an appeal process. Get a lawyer. Try the state's insurance consumer advocate: https://t.co/HjeW4Z3lBb
