🧵 MPS is breaking the law. The shared revenue bill, signed into law as Act 13, included a provision that: “Beginning January 1, 2024, the school board shall ensure that not fewer than 25 school resource officers are present at schools during normal school hours”.

Losing the ability to accurately compare from year to year couldn’t have come at a worse time after the passage of the literacy bill last year. This is beyond frustrating. https://t.co/pHT5rGZauQ

The officers were supposed to be in schools January 1. Are they going to be in the schools any time soon? (the answer is no). Do you think it’s ok to simply ignore state law? Does the mayor think it’s ok? Does the governor think it’s ok?

I have so many questions. What is so confusing or complicated about the duties of a school resource officer that they didn’t just implement it immediately?

@therealadamjar1 The WIAA amended its rule last week before the hearing. It would allow kids to play immediately… but only if they returned to their original school. My constituent loves his new school and is thriving. He shouldn’t be punished. #letthemplay.
