The ND House just passed a bill banning Critical Race Theory in K-12 public schools. It heads to the Senate floor next. https://t.co/BRJEkovN35

Good grief: the ND Senate just passed HB 1532, which gives away $10m in public dollars for private school vouchers for a 1-year period w/ no accountability. Remember the Senate defeated a bill to provide $6m for school meals for ~30% of K12 students for a 2-year period.

Fantastic news for North Dakota kids! No-cost school meals <U+2013> which has had a long journey full of ups and downs <U+2013> has passed both the ND House & Senate, along with a boost in school funding! Here are the deets>

Kids learn better <U+2013> and behave better <U+2013> when they are not hungry. This week, the ND Legislature has the opportunity to ensure all kids get a hot meal while they<U+2019>re in school. (Doesn<U+2019>t this sound better than some of the other proposals you<U+2019>ve read about?) Details> https://t.co/gofGsXxOqA

The ND Legislature's priorities: Senate defeats a bill to narrowly expand no-cost school meals for kids (1491) & the House passes a bill to limit diversity, equity & inclusion efforts at our universities (2247). Shameful on both counts.

ND’s experience is proof that athletic bodies at the high school & college level are quite capable of addressing this matter in the rare instances when cases arise. There’s no problem to solve but passing these bills could create very real problems. https://t.co/iMEc47D6BC

GAH. The ND House passed SB 2308, which allows public schools to display the Ten Commandments. Our founders were explicit that our government should remain neutral in matters of faith; our Constitution's First Amendment makes that clear with the establishment clause.

Happy to be among the 72 yes votes on SB2304, which passed the ND House! This will require schools to include curriculum on Native American history. This will help NDans better understand our full history - which helps us better understand & build relationships with each other. https://t.co/OvM3fiMKwi
