The ND House just killed a bill that had a do-pass recommendation from committee; the bill would have created a shared leave program for state employees so they could donate sick time / annual leave to a fellow worker. Gah! >,

I agree: we need to invest in ND to make it an even better place to live & work. That includes daycare, paid family leave, great education at every level, affordable housing & more. When many workers can work from anywhere, let's help make ND their choice. https://t.co/FLYhPSF8CG

ND Rep. Karla Rose Hanson reintroduced a measure to create a paid leave fund, facilitated by the state, for employers or their staff to contribute to. Contributions would be optional - and could be split by all parties, or covered by one of them. https://t.co/dXOOHj5tsJ

The last time the federal & state minimum wage was ⬆️was 12 years ago today. While the minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25, the cost of living sure hasn't stayed the same. A person earning minimum wage for 40 hrs/wk will earn ~$15k a year, hardly enough for basic necessities. >

You can prevent the spread of #coronavirus (COVID-19) & the flu by washing your hands relentlessly & staying home when you're not feeling well. But the latter is hard if your job doesn't offer sick leave; 46% of NDs private sector workforce cant earn a single paid sick day.

During ND's 2021 legislative session, Rep. LaurieBeth Hager (D-Fargo) proposed that we gradually #RaiseTheWage in our state with HB 1341. Her bill didn't pass, which is unfortunate because every person deserves a living wage.
