A win for nursing moms & hungry babies! The ND House passed HB1105, which removes the unconstitutionally vague terms 'discreet' & 'modest' from ND's breastfeeding law. What remains: an affirmative right to breastfeed anywhere a person is otherwise allowed to be. Period.

@JayRayS44 Things are changing quickly & new assistance is being added daily it seems. But under one new federal law, qualified employees would get 2 weeks of sick leave for a variety of situations, including caring for kids whose schools have closed. https://t.co/Cim1PPNP7h

What would ACTUALLY help ND kids: pass meaningful support for child care, funding for teacher retention & more behavioral health services to prevent suicide. The proposals in this article fail to address the real priorities affecting ND youth + will harm our most vulnerable kids. https://t.co/bgd7nTuXsT

As we read how the Supreme Court preserved the Affordable Care Act for the 3rd time, a reminder that ND was among the GOP states challenging the law even though thousands of North Dakotans benefit from it - like Medicaid Expansion & coverage for those with preexisting conditions.

Spot on: the ND Legislature needs to develop a plan to fund school meals. It<U+2019>s the right thing to do. One in 12 ND kids faces hunger & food insecurity. In Fargo, the school lunch debt so far this year is around $32K & could set a record by year end. https://t.co/pYVERh6kjQ

I'm lucky to be friends & colleagues with Sen. @ErinOban. Yesterday she & I again presented our case for paid family leave in ND, this time in a Senate hearing for a study of the financial viability of such a program. We both wore white – an unplanned nod to the women (continued) https://t.co/tzBtCxDQt1

ND took one step closer to a paid family leave program today. The ND House passed my bill, HB 1441, to study the feasibility of a program that will help FAMILY take care of FAMILY and still be able to pay their bills. Onto the Senate!

Well, folks. Bad news. HB 1441 - a paid family leave study - failed on the Senate floor by a 22-25 vote. Thank you to everyone who advocated for an option to help family take care of family and still be able to pay their bills. Onward!
