@BhandaryJames @LBlatteau Already have, and will always continue to. Pretending that online learning is an adequate substitute for in person learning goes against every piece of evidence we have received over the last year. I<U+2019>m open to a lot of options, just not counting online as equal to in person.

@WeedsGetABadRap @RevJeffLukens @ChrisMurphyCT @BhandaryJames @LBlatteau I think I would, in a world which I unilaterally controlled NHV public schools - 1) Close schools for this week 2) cancel February vacation week and leave it available as replacement dates 3)secure system wide free PCR testing availability for all NHPS this week<U+2026> cont/

@KeepingSunny @ChrisMurphyCT @BhandaryJames @LBlatteau Agree to that as well. That<U+2019>s why I said we need more creative options but counting online learning as equivalent to in person for purposes of meeting or obligation to provide a fair & Equitable education is not the right answer.

@BhandaryJames @LBlatteau I completely disagree with you. We know online learning is a failed model at this point. It isn<U+2019>t even debated as close to equivalent by the teachers/ parents/administrators I<U+2019>ve spoken with<U+2026>. I<U+2019>m open to many options including what other districts have done<U+2026> cont

@BhandaryJames @LBlatteau I don<U+2019>t think NHV schools should be forced to be open & I would support a temp closure. I think we need to provide more resources for community testing. I<U+2019>m up for a whole bunch of radical solutions-

@WeedsGetABadRap @RevJeffLukens @ChrisMurphyCT @BhandaryJames @LBlatteau 4) advance more diligent social distancing/ masking requirements 5) consider mandatory vaccinations/booster for all non-medical exemption attendees 5)consider all good ideas, just don<U+2019>t count on-line days toward our obligation to provide a fair & equitable education

@hawaiiagogo @WeedsGetABadRap @RevJeffLukens @ChrisMurphyCT @BhandaryJames @LBlatteau I<U+2019>m not saying there isn<U+2019>t a role for online education, I just don<U+2019>t want it supplanting the minimum education requirements.That<U+2019>s the 1 ask, out of very many, that I couldn<U+2019>t support. I agree with you about the other concerns and I work really hard on addressing those too.

@mpressmeredith @resistbot What I said, and what I think is undeniably the right answer, is that aonline learning should not count the same as in person learning.

@hawaiiagogo @WeedsGetABadRap @RevJeffLukens @ChrisMurphyCT @BhandaryJames @LBlatteau Because every single piece of evidence suggests it exacerbates existing inequities in the system? Because it gives children like mine even more unearned structural advantages? Because it alleviates school districts from responsibility to provide a fair and equitable education?
