According to a study by Oxford Univ, the data economy accounts for 7% of GDP and growing. In NY, w/ a GDP of $2.3T, that’s $100s of billions of economic value created by our data. We need to be fairly compensated for the value we create for others. https://t.co/lcTLTorbEb

Our proposal is simple: companies using our data for profit & relying on individuals to create data for their own use need to pay their fair share for the profits they make off of us. A 2% tax on revenues generated in NYS could raise billions in revenue & stop data exploitation.
