What a great moment for bipartisan cooperation and civil rights legislation in AK! I was proud to work with Sen. Wilson's office on SB 174. SB 174 prohibits discrimination against students for having natural hairstyles such as locs, twists, etc. that are associated with race. https://t.co/sCJesjjpEi

In another example of good bipartisan cooperation, HB 62 has now been signed into law! As a result, the min. age for marriage in Alaska has increased from 14 to 16 years of age. Several legal limitations are now also placed on minors 16/17 years of age who wish to get married. https://t.co/9UVGEfOEfx

@MunkeeRajah @JoeJuneau2 @lauritadianita2 @sararasmussenak @alaskanrobby I actually did the first rape kit bill and asked Berta<U+2019>s office to do a companion bill. I planned to work on it after connecting with the End the Backlog effort by the Joyful Heart Foundation. When we all attended a Planned Parenthood event before session I shared my plans.

@MunkeeRajah @JoeJuneau2 @lauritadianita2 @sararasmussenak @alaskanrobby Fun thing-when I got elected I asked people for advice. Mary Peltola was one. She told me to check my own mail & I still do today. It was checking my mail and that piece on end the backlog that led to my 8 year rape kit reform effort. So Mary deserves some credit!Go @MaryPeltola

Today is Elizabeth Peratrovich Day! You can join the live event this evening. We should all know that the reason we celebrate today, February 16th, is because the anti-discrimination bill was signed today. Alaska’s anti-discrimination law was signed in 1945, decades ahead of
