Utah imports approximately 97% of its fruits and vegetables. Yet Utah pays it's farmers not to farm — while sending our conserved water to California. This isn’t conservation. It’s insanity. Utah must return to a common-sense water and food policy.

I recently had the honor of being featured in a Pat Bagley cartoon! Depicted as a caveman riding a woolly mammoth, I had a steak hanging out of my mouth, and I had to wonder — was it a locally-grown steak from an Utah ranch? If so, what a great compliment! Our Utah farmers and ranchers do incredible work, and are a critical link in our state’s sovereignty. With the federal government, special interests, and the globalists all interested in controlling our resources, including our land, water, and food, strong local agriculture allows us to take back our food independence. Supporting, valuing, and prioritizing all those involved in local agriculture reinforces the importance of local control of our resources, and gives Utahns a way to feed their families that isn’t dictated by corporate interests. As your governor, I will support our local farmers and ranchers and encourage Utahns to buy directly from local food providers whenever they can. So I’ll have that steak medium-rare, please. Also… I thought woolly mammoths were larger than elephants. @sltrib #utpol #Lymanforgovernor
