Honored to be recognized as @TheVaPFF 2020 Legislative Rookie Of The Year! It was a pleasure working together last year on our bill that expanded workers’ compensation for our firefighters. Thank you for this award and for the work you all do to advocate for VA’s firefighters. https://t.co/E0zMEYtxzQ
Thanks to support from House Dems, the minimum wage increased to $9.50/hr today in VA. When we invest in working families, we grow our economy and in turn create even more jobs. We're building a Commonwealth that works for all -- and this is just the start.
Unions are critical to the Commonwealth's economic development by protecting workers' well-being. I'm humbled to have @Virginia_AFLCIO by my side in the fight for our shared vision of a Virginia that serves and supports *all* residents. https://t.co/tekn0oS1Lt
This one means a lot. @SEIUVA512 shares my vision of a Commonwealth that invests in good jobs and working conditions, fair wages, and affordable health care. I'm humbled to have their consistent support, and to announce their endorsement of my re-election campaign. https://t.co/EBaZXqrslc
It was an honor to work with the Governor’s Director of DEI, Dr. Janice Underwood, on legislation that ensures our state agencies foster diverse, equitable, & inclusive workplaces. I’m proud to announce that our bill passed the Senate and is headed to the Governor’s desk! https://t.co/Fdzm611Hmn
On Labor and on every other day, too, we celebrate workers, working families, and labor unions. Let this day serve to recommit us all to the fight for fair wages, an uplifted middle class, increased job security, and stronger worker protections. Proud to be #UnionStrong
As our economy evolves w/ new jobs and tech, we must champion workers in innovative ways. This includes addressing income inequalities head-on by passing workforce, housing, and safety net policies that protect and benefit our most vulnerable workers. #VADemsChat https://t.co/0G1bDpMwgs
(1/4) Last year, a constituent reached out to us and informed us that the VA Employment Commission was demanding that she repay thousands of dollars they accidentally overpaid her. I was shocked that this was legal for the VEC to do, and we took legislative action immediately.
(1/2) Yesterday, the Senate passed HB 783; our bill that expands the types of cancers that qualify a firefighter to receive workers' compensation. This bill will now head to the Governor's desk for final approval!
