This morning, I spoke to 'A'al'i Dukelow @ktivnews about the Sykap case, Steve Alm's platform of resisting oversight of HPD and SHOPO's subsequent strong endorsement of his campaign for prosecutor. Is our prosecutor too cozy with our police union? #PoliceReform

"When the law treats a reasonable, conscientious act as a crime it subverts its own power. It invites civil disobedience. It impairs the very habits which nourish and preserve the law." United States v. Sisson, 297 F. Supp. 902, 911 (D. Mass. 1969). Mahalo to Lanny Sinkin.

The silence of 'big unions' on police brutality is worse than complicity - it gives all unions a bad name. Shame on you. Which side are you on, @AFTunion? https://t.co/6HGDhKhatq

"[ADC ag land in Wahiawa] area is so dangerous that armed HPD officers do not want to go on to the property." Per instructions, I am "letting colleagues and community members know that HPD does not recommend anyone entering area due to ongoing criminal activity." State lands.

@EAducator @HIDOE808 @MiliLaff This research does further confirms how much deep and difficult work we have to do here. Our systems of justice, and the school to prison pipeline are permanently damaging so many lives.

"Alm's platform was based on the resistance to oversight of the police and he received the union's endorsement... there would be more examination of that question, depending on the nature of the case that was brought by the prosecutor." https://t.co/kHV80LJ3Qy... #transparency

This is the ONE instance in which I support increased criminal penalties. Also, I support Kauai Prosecutor Rebecca Like's call for reform of areas of the state<U+2019>s campaign finance laws dealing with lobbyists and large donations.https://t.co/Z9QzcCzWoe

@jonmedeiros @h_starbuck_71 Maybe it is different on Kauai, but on Oahu, I honestly dont see how it would be possible to enforce the law. There are serious fireworks everywhere. When it was legal but regulated, we did not see major fireworks in every small community like we do now.
